A MULTI DISCIPLINARY, MULTI FACETED BEING LIVING IN A MULTI DIMENSIONAL WORLD.

Ryan Leason is an Editor and Director with a slight (not slight) obsession for storytelling.

He has worked at Critical Mass for over 7 years as a Senior Studio Artist. This position ranges in duties such as video editing, filming and directing small productions, motion design, VFX, motion tracking, and colour grading. At Critical Mass Ryan has worked with global brands such as Nissan, BMW, AT&T and Quickbooks. He has worked on many award winning projects including Cannes Lions submissions. You might even hear his voice over (English accent? Australian? New Zealand?) in a couple of submissions. His experience working with fortune 500 companies at a global digital agency has influenced his work with local businesses and musicians elevating their projects with this cohesive approach.

As well as this experience his Bachelors Degree in Visual Communication Design from AU Arts informs all aspects of his work. The design process is integral to creating well crafted, engaging stories that are supported by great technical craft.

With 10 years of video editing experience Ryan has built a style that focuses on story above all else. This informs every choice from pacing, music direction and more. Telling stories is how people have communicated complex ideas for thousands of years and it remains our most powerful tool today. People often comment on how Ryan’s edits “just flow”. Having edited 16 mini documentaries for Quickbooks in the past year he has fallen in love with editing Documentaries in addition to his passion for short form content and music videos.

Ryan likes to work on projects that are creatively challenging with like-minded creatives and clients. He is available for remote freelance projects or in person in Calgary, Alberta.
